Hello, we are Craig and Nicole.
It is great to meet you!
Midwest Homesteading is the place to discover home canning, cooking/baking from scratch, gardening, and wood “heat & eat” using our cookstove.
Having built a community with our social media that attracts at least a million viewers during any given month we have developed a passion for sharing knowledge, of which we have gained over the years.
Craig grew up in South-Eastern Wisconsin and will forever be a Wisconsinite (everyone bleeds Red), even after moving to Central Missouri. Farming and Construction run in his family, which aided in his love for building and tool design. This knowledge and understanding allowed him to fine tune his skills, to create better tools. Craig’s contribution to the homestead encompasses the majority of ‘outdoor’ work, including building and planting our annual garden, Chief chicken wrangler, woodlot maintenance, and firewood processing, to allow us to heat our home.
Ever since we met, Craig has been continually supportive of “most” of my endeavors and wild dreams. This includes moving from our home in Wisconsin to Missouri, to be active grandparents, learning how to cook and bake from scratch, learning to sew, etc.
Shortly after meeting my future husband, I quickly understood the quote,
“The way to a Man’s heart, is through his Stomach.” (Anonymous woman seeking husband)
Canning and Preserving garden fresh veggies and/or bulk purchases has became a passion and lifestyle choice within the last decade, which has helped us to eliminate more preservatives and reduce costs. Through all of our trial and error/research we have built a medium-to-large ‘Cantry’ (Canning Pantry). We are very excited to share this information with you, incase you have aspirations to build your own!
Every Canning or From Scratch recipe, is tested in this Homestead Kitchen and enjoyed by our family & friends.
